What are Dental X-rays?
Digital X-rays are a form of Dental Xrays. X-rays are a focused beam of x-ray particles. It passes through the oral tissues and produces an image on the film. The bone tissues absorb most of the x-rays, while some pass through the oral mucosa. Xrays tube will produce X-rays when an electric current passes. To avoid overexposure of the patient, the dental personnel delivers it in a controlled setting.
Why you need Dental X-rays?
X-rays provide a simple black and white images of teeth and jaw. The doctors and dentists use these images to diagnose problems and diseases. Without an x-ray of the tooth and supporting bone and gum tissues, it would be impossible to detect incipient dental decay, infections or other pathologies.
Benefits of Digital X-rays
In our office, the dental personnel use digital radiography. It allows us to take x-rays using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays. A small sensor takes an x-ray of your mouth using this technology. The sensor records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer. The result is a digital image of your teeth and gums. The dentist can enhance this image for better diagnosis and determine the very best treatment for each case.
