What is Dental Implant?

A dental implant is an ideal dental treatment for people that are looking to replace one or more missing teeth as a result of decay, gum disease or injury.

Benefits of Dental Implants

While dental implants are typically more expensive, they resemble tooth form and have more success rate than any other treatment options. Implants don’t take support from the neighboring teeth for support like Dental Bridge do. Implants don’t get decay or periodontal disease. Implants generally last 10-20 years. read more

What is Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment is a treatment of tooth in which pulp (nerve) is removed from the tooth and filled with root canal filling. It is also referred to as endodontic therapy. Regular checkup and dental cleaning can avoid root canal treatment by early detection of caries. When the cavity is allowed to grow in enamel (first layer) and dentin (second layer) to reach all the way to the pulp ( third layer), root canal treatment is necessary.  When the cavity reaches pulp, bacteria from the cavity infects the pulp. The pulp has nerve and blood vessels which undergoes series of changes during infection and at the end, the pulp becomes dead tissue. The dead tissue, in turn, infects the surrounding bone and tissue spaces.
In few cases, trauma to the tooth can cause damage to the nerve and will need root canal therapy also.

Why you need Root Canal Treatment?

Once the pulp is infected, the pulp becomes necrotic tissue (dead tissue). Pulp doesn’t regenerate back like the body does. This necrotic tissue can affect surrounding tissue like bone and tissue spaces leading to swelling, pain, redness, fever, loss of function like limited mouth opening or pain on chewing. The bacteria from the pulp can enter blood vessels and lead to infection elsewhere in the body. read more

What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is used to enhance and restore teeth that are fractured or decayed. Further, a dental crown goes entirely over the damaged tooth to cover and protect from further damage. Finally, a dental crown can dramatically improve a tooth’s shape, contour, contacts, orientation, and alignment.

When is Dental Crown needed?
